"Beautiful Saviour" has been one of the most beloved Christmas songs in Norway for many years. The privilege of life, the passing of time, and that one should enjoy it and use it well. See a translation of the song.

02. ET BARN ER FØDT I BETLEHEM

"A child is born in Bethlehem" is also one of the most well known Christmas songs in Norway, but not with this melody. This is an old German folk tune, and the lyrics describes the story of the birth of Jesus, the sheperds at the fields and the angels singing to them.

A non-lyrical song composed by a friend of ours, suits as an prelude to the next track. "Vidder" means "plateaus" in the meaning of Norwegian landscape in the mountains.

The first verse means "Ring out, church bells! Ring and call us from a thousand towers! Ring out salvation! Beckon and greet us in peace as children of God!" A song calling for Christmas, with lyrics by one of the most famous poets from the northern part of Norway; Elias Blix (1836-1902).

"Christmas Time dream" - written by Alf Prøysen; one of the most famous and beloved poets in Norway (PUST has recorded quite many of his songs at "Femkant" and "Kry"). This story is about a boy and a girl who dressed up and go to visit their grandmother. For them, her bosom is the best place to be in the world. "Romjul" is the part of the Christmas from 27th - 31st of December.

07. O HELGA NATT

"O Holy Night" ("Cantique de Noël") is a well-known Christmas carol, originally based on a French poem. In Norway the version of the Swedish singer Jussi Björling is a legendary. The lyrics reflects on the birth of Jesus and of mankind's redemption, but the version of PUST is without the lyrics.

08. NORDNORSK JULESALME

"Northern Norwegian Christmas Psalm" - a very popular Christmas song in the northern part of Norway, written by another famous poet from that part of the country; Trygve Hoff. The song describes the harsh climate and the dark times that people in the north are experiencing during the Christmas season. But they still have the belief that they will get through it with God's help.

"In a small house" is one of two quite new composistions on this record written by a PUST member. A cute, "feelgood" story about going home for Christmas, meeting the rest of the family and share some good moments that you'll remember for a long time.

"My heart will always wander" - a hymn that emphasizes the vulnerability of man, and it is used for christenings as well as confirmation ceremonies, weddings, funeral services and at Christmas. Its subject is the quiet space within, where we hide what is most dear to us.

This is a Finnish Christmas song about forgetting every days sorrow.
